Nonprofit Board Basics

This “basics” workshop provides a solid foundation for new board members and a valuable refresher course for current or soon-to-be-returning board members. Topics include nonprofit board responsibilities, the role of the individual board member, the relationship between the board and the Executive Director or CEO, and an overview of key best and promising practices in board governance and operations. Participants will come away with specific action plans to put their learning into practice.

Valuable Volunteers: How to Find Them and Keep Them

The right volunteer is worth their weight in gold. But how do we find and recruit them? What can we do to retain great volunteers and reduce turnover? What should we do when things don’t work out? Workshop participants will learn proven strategies for developing a winning volunteer engagement program that can be applied to their own organization.

Successful Strategic Planning

This workshop explores the basics of strategic planning, the elements of a good strategic plan, and how an organization can set itself up for planning success regardless of size or budget. We’ll cover who should be involved in strategic planning plus common mistakes organizations make and how to fix them. Finally, we’ll discuss when it makes sense to partner with an outside consultant to assist with the planning process.

Fearless Fundraising for Board Members

Board members play a vital role in making sure a nonprofit has the resources it needs. But what, exactly, does that mean? What can, and should, a board member do to support fundraising and development? In this training, participants will learn strategies for overcoming concerns and successfully engaging the board in fundraising and resource development.
